About Studio Laycock
Alice Laycock: Writer & Designer
I am a former student of both The Interior Design Institute and Norwich University of the Arts. At NUA, I also contributed to our university magazine Storehouse. During my third and final year of my undergraduate study, I also became a content writer for Out & Out furniture, completing a consistent amount of articles for their website every month, alongside my studies.
The sum of my academic education and formative experiences, both at university and elsewhere, has led me to pursue a career in design journalism and communications. I envisage this will will span both my specialism in interior design and architecture, as well as other creative disciplines, and across multiple media formats, tones, lengths, and target readerships.
January 2021 -
Writer, Out & Out Furniture
Writing online articles focused on domestic interiors. I produce pieces of a brand-specific tone to rigid briefs within narrow turnaround windows. I advise on design history and styling while interspersing product names to help promote the brand and optimise search engine results.
May 2020 - May 2021
Editor in Chief, Storehouse Magazine
Held various positions in the NUA students’ publication of ascending responsibility: first submitting content, then as a permanent member of the in-house Content Team, before being promoted to Co-Head of Content, and finally as Editor in Chief, producing two issues during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Work experience, Scout Decorative
Shadowed owners and observed client interfacing with high-profile antiques collectors and dealers, and helped style, photograph, and describe items for sale in online listings.
June - September 2019
House Steward at Felbrigg Hall, National Trust
Participated in the continuing conservation of Felbrigg Hall, North Norfolk, and acted as a house steward and guide for visitors.
